There is much more into lubricating a bike chain, than just dropping some wax or oil on it.
At Blub, we have been working with many professional teams, such as Movistar Team, Astana Qazaqstan or Caja Rural among others. Lots of testing and improvements has been done during these years, which helped us to come up with the perfect bike chain lubrication tips.
In this article we will get into the topic, to make your bike chain run smooth like butter!

Which lube to choose?
Each of our lubes are made for specific conditions. While the Wet Lube is ideal for rainy or muddy conditions, the Dry Lube brings the smoothest rides in dusty and dry conditions. Choosing between oil and wax is quite an individual thing. For years oils were the go to product for most riders, and then we all started using wax.
The type of ride you usually do is an important aspect when it comes to choose your lubricant. Some perform better on the road and others are made for off-road.

Clean the chain
Use a chain degreaser to ensure the chain is free of mud or dust. This will improve the effect of the lube you apply afterwards. Use a brush to remove the dirt.
This step is important because applying lube to an already dirty chain will only make you ride slower, as friction and drivetrain resistance increases.

Lube it!
Once the chain and drivetrain is clean, it’s time to lube it.
You don’t have to go link by link, just make sure it spreads through all the chain, while turning the pedals backwards slowly.
Extra tip: Always apply the lube on the inside of the chain.

Wipe any excess
No one likes a chain tattoo on his calve… so use a Microfiber rag for a perfect finish, to leave the chain in perfect conditions for your next ride!
